Sentinel is a wide area stand alone surveillance system incorporating its own wind and solar power generators. As such, it provides a totally self contained surveillance solution ideally suited to deployment in remote or undeveloped rural areas. Sentinel draws upon the following enabling technologies:

A sophisticated environmentally friendly power generation and management system provides Sentinel with sufficient power and reserves to ensure 24 hour operation, without the need for external mains electricity or generators. This enables deployment in a variety of hitherto impractical locations, including remote border sites or areas of outstanding natural beauty which lack manmade infrastructure.

Sentinel is equipped with a range of sensors including a high sensitivity and high resolution day/night colour CCTV camera which, with its rapid focus zoom lens, is capable of detecting targets at distances from 0 to 15 Km. Additionally a state of the art 3rd generation Thermal Imaging camera enhances night time performance, thus ensuring comprehensive video surveillance can be undertaken over a very wide range of operational conditions.

Live video may be transmitted from Sentinel by a variety of different methods depending upon operational requirements. Typically, a multi channel digital radio relay would be used, but alternative methods could include satellite link, GSM cellphone, 3G, or direct (radio) internet connection.

In addition to video surveillance, Sentinel is equipped with a suite of Remote Ground Sensors which may be used, depending upon their deployment, either for target detection or self protection purposes. These sensors typically include laser, seismic and passive infra red technologies.
